Description:

LED lighting differs greatly from other lighting technologies. Many of these differences provide major advantages to specifiers, contractors and end users. But, some characteristics can cause serious installation and performance issues if not clearly understood. This seminar will provide contractors with a basic understanding of key LED performance characteristics as well as installation points where project failures can occur.

Speaker Bio:

 

 

has spent over 25 years in the area of product development. His executive experience includes senior positions managing the R&D efforts of a number of industrial high technology businesses. With over 20 patents issued, Dr. Curran has been responsible for products ranging in scope from shear wave seismic sources to fire and emergency evacuation systems and, in recent years, a number of products based on LED technologies including the first 20,000 cd white strobe signal used for obstruction lighting and the first hazardous location rated area light using LEDs.
Currently he is President of LED Transformations, LLC, a New Jersey based technology consulting company specializing in providing guidance to companies entering the solid-state lighting field. Previously, he was Chief Technology Officer and Vice President of Engineering for one of the pioneering providers of LED signaling devices. He is a member of the SPIE International Society for Optical Engineering; IESNA; the Optical Society of America and the Acoustic Society of America. He has given numerous talks to the lighting industry on the correct use of LED technology for general illumination applications both for his own company and on behalf of the US Department of Energy.
