Speaker Bio:

Karen Prescott has over 17 years of business development, marketing, government relations and political consulting experience. She has consulted for various political figures and national campaigns. Prior to her tenure with NECA, she served as Director of Finance for Congressman Darrell Issa.

Karen was an addition to an already well-established NECA San Diego Government Affairs program. As Assistant Chapter Manager and Director of Local Government Affairs and Economic Development, she created and implemented a public relations and marketing strategy and serves as an advisor of political protocol at all levels. She continues to strengthen the area of business development recently using her Congressional contacts to help insure that $4.7 billion worth of military work was made available for bidding by local contractors. This 4-year work roll out has been very beneficial to many NECA contractors during a time of otherwise limited economic opportunity.

Karen was nominated for “Bold Businesswoman” in 2010 recognized for successfully working in a nontraditional industry. She serves on the Boards of Women’s Construction Coalition and San Diego Taxpayers Association and is a member of San Diego North County Economic Development Council and an advisor to Mentoring a Girl in Construction.

Please note that every state handles licensure and continuing education credits differently. To avoid confusion, NECA strongly recommends you check with your state authority whether they will grant these CEUs for management education programs held at NECA 2011 San Diego.
