Balboa Park, with its museums and galleries housed in buildings of Spanish-Moorish architecture dating back to the 1915 Pan-American Exposition, will be highlighted. Then "come aboard" for a one-hour narrated tour of San Diego's Big Bay. Enjoy views of Coronado, North Island Naval Air Station, the Embarcadero and Cabrillo National Park that can only be seen from sea. A Walk Through Time in the Gaslamp Quarter

A Walk Through Time in the Gaslamp Quarter

Fri, Oct. 21, 10:00 am-1:00 pm

$39

The Gaslamp Quarter of San Diego boasts 90 buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Buildings-and the collection of interesting and colorful characters that built, lived and worked in the buildings is almost as extensive and certainly as interesting! Among them are Alonzo E. Horton, Wyatt Earp, Ah Quin, Police Chief Keno Wilson, and the notorious madam Ida Bailey. This tour vividly recreates the late 1800's when the city near the waterfront fell into disrepair and the Stingaree district flourished. Learn about the marketing secrets of the naughty ladies of the Stingaree and discover the haunts of famous former resident Wyatt Earp. The tour also highlights many of the best Victorian-style commercial buildings constructed in the years between the Civil War and World War I. Finish the tour with a stop at Ghirardelli Chocolate factory (in business since 1852) for an old-fashioned, out-of-this-world ice cream sundae with your choice of toppings!
